Inihayag ni Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte na hindi sya dadalo sa mga darating na presidential debates hangga’t hindi nareresolba ang kasong diskwalipikasyon laban sa kanya
“You know as i have said, i would like to avoid an incongruous situation. Legally, i am not a presidential candidate because legally, my certificate of candidacy has not been accepted by the COMELEC tapos i will go there to talk about the issues and my platform, tapos the following day, i’d be disqualified, i’d look stupid.” Pahayag ni Duterte
Ayon kay Duterte hindi nya ipipilit ang kanyang candidacy kung mapagpasyahan ng mataas na hukuman na hindi sya kwalipikadong kandidato.
“If magsabi ang Supreme Court or the courts of the land will say that indeed, i am disqualified because something was wrong with the substitution, eh di wala akong magawa.”

“Nung nagkabukuhan na, kinausap mo lahat pati presidente, na huwag mo isali ako dyan kasi tatakbo akong pagka president. That is why early on sinabi nila na hindi ka kasali, you were not a player sa Mamasapano but you were there all the time.” Ayon pa sa alkalde.
