METRO MANILA – Batay sa datos ng Department of Health (DOH), mahigit 2,000 na ang itinaas ng average daily COVID-19 cases sa bansa ngayong linggo kung saan umabot ito sa 17,013 kada araw mula August 24-30.
Naitala ang pinakamataas na daily COVID-19 cases noong Lunes na umabot sa 22,366. 7 naman sa 10 samples na isinasailalim sa sequencing sa ngayon ay positibo sa Delta variant. Karamihan ng Delta cases sa bansa ay naitala sa NCR, Calabarzon at Central Luzon.
Ayon kay World Health Organization (WHO) Country Representative Dr Rabindra Abeyasinghe, dulot ito ng community transmission ng Delta variant sa bansa.
Dagdag pa ng WHO, dominante na rin ngayon sa bansa ang Delta kumpara sa ibang mga variant ng COVID-19.
“The Delta variant has emerged as the dominant variant. Certainly, based on the limited sequencing data that we have that is confirmed and nearly 70% of the last sequencing run was attributed to Delta. With this kind of transmission with this kind of numbers, we are in community transmission with the Delta variant”. ani WHO Country Representative Dr Rabindra Abeyasinghe.
Sa kasalukuyan 114 ang average na nasasawi sa bansa kada araw nguni’t mas mataas pa rin noong Abril kung saan umaabot ito sa 134 deaths.
Paliwanag ng WHO, naipapasa pa rin ang Delta sa pamamagitan ng talsik ng laway o bodily fluid ng isang positibo nito at hindi ito naihahawa at sumasa sa hangin.
Mahalaga pa rin na maiwasan ng publiko ang 3Cs Upang hindi mahawa , ito ay ang crowded places, close contact settings at confined o enclosed spaces.
Mahalaga ding mapanatili ang sapat na bentilasyon sa isang lugar at ang tamang pagsusuot ng face mask.
Sa ulat ng DOH, buwan ng Hulyo nang magsimulang bumilis ang hawaan dahil sa Delta variant. Kalat na rin ito sa Northern Mindanao at Western Visayas.
“Looking at the case increase we experienced last march to April, the highest peak was observed on the 6th week after cases started to increase at the end of February. If the same pattern will occur this time around, we may see cases peak mid-September.” ani DOH Spokesperson, Usec Maria Rosario Vergeire
Nananatiling nasa high risk classification ang healthcare utilizaiton rate ng buong bansa . Mahigit sa 70% ang okupado sa hospital beds, ICU capacity at mechanical ventilators sa mga ospital at pasilidad.
