Pinirmahan na ni Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama ang isang Executive Order kung saan sasailalim sa trial period ang voluntary face mask policy sa lungsod. Base sa EO, iiral ang trial simula September 1 hanggang sa December 31, 2022. Pero awtomatiko itong ili-lift kapag magdudulot ng Covid-19 surge sa syudad.

Ayon sa Department of Health, hindi sila nakonsulta sa bagong polisiya ng lungsod.

Sinabi ni DOH officer-in-charge Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergerie, na pag-uusapan na nila at ng IATF ang magiging rekomendasyon kay Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ukol sa face mask policy.

“We are not aware of this proposal. Lahat po ito ay pag-uusapan mamaya. May IATF po kami. We have convened the IATF. Remember, IATF is recommendatory to the office of the President. We will be discussing all of these issues later on and we will be informing the public once the office of the President has decided already,” pahayag ni Usec. Maria Rosario Vergeire, OIC, DOH.

Una ng sinabi ng Malakayang na ikokonsidera ng Pangulo ang magiging opinyon ng DOH, Department of the Interior and local Government at iba pang mga sektor sa magiging desisyon sa face mask policy.
