Naglabas ng dalawang temporary restraining order (TRO) ang Supreme Court laban sa desisyon ng Commission on Elections na nagdi-disqualify kay Sen. Grace Poe sa pagtakbo bilang pangulo 2016 elections.

Ayon kay SC Spokesperson Theodore Te, ang TRO na inilabas ni Supreme Court Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno ay pabor sa petition for certiorari na inihain ng kampo ni Sen. Grace Poe kaugnay ng dalawang Comelec en banc decisions na nagbabasura sa kandidatura ni Poe dahil sa isyu ng umano’y hindi niya pagiging natural-born Filipino at ang kakulangan ng required residency para sa isang presidential candidate.

Kaugnay nito ay pinasalamatan ni Poe ang Supreme Court.

Pahayag ng senadora, “I thank the Supreme Court for a just and compassionate decision. From the start, I put my full faith in the judicial process. The COMELEC denied our people their choices in an open election but I am confident that the Supreme Court will uphold the truth and the spirit of the Constitution. We are confident the SC will honor previous jurisprudence on the rights of foundlings to a country and citizenship. I also pray that they will carefully look into the facts of my residence and my actual physical presence in the country.”

Matatandaang Lunes ng umaga nang magtungo sa Korte Suprema ang kampo ni Poe sa pamamagitan ng kanyang abogadong si Atty. George Garcia upang humiling ng TRO na pumipigil sa disqualification case.

Ito ay upang maisama pa rin ang pangalan ng senadora sa listahan ng presidential candidates at sa mga ililimbag na balota para sa halalan.

Binibigyan ng Korte Suprema ng sampung araw ang Comelec para sa kanilang komento sa naturang sa isyu.

Kasunod nito ay ang oral argument sa parehong kaso ni Poe sa Enero 19, 2016.
