MANILA, Philippines – Nais ni Pangulong Duterte na tanggalin na ang mga broker sa Bureau of Customs (BOC) upang makabawas sa kurapsyon sa ahensiya.

Ang mga broker ang naghahanda ng mga kinakailangang dokumento para sa mga ina-angkat at ini-export na mga produkto.

Sila rin ang nagdedeklara ng taripa at buwis na dapat bayaran. Pero ayon sa Pangulo panukala niya lamang ito. Samantala, hinimok din niya ang ahensya na wag makipag transaksyon sa mga gumagamit ng broker.

“Perhaps the President believes (brokers) are sort of medium for corruption. Perhaps the President believes there is no need to employ the services of the brokers in able to assess and process these shipments.” ani BOC Port of Manila District Collector, Arsenia Ilagan.

Nagpulong na Kahapon (September 11) ang mga opisyal ng BOC upang balangkasin ang bagong sistema kung saan hindi na mangangailangan mamagitan pa ang mga broker sa pagpasok at paglabas ng mga kargamento sa Port Area.

“We have been putting up right now and the inititiatives along this line and this may lessen and we hope that it will lessen the transaction that is being done specifically that with the brokers.” ani BOC  Public Information and Assistance Division  Staff, Bien Datuin.
