MANILA, Philippines – Naghain ng resolusyon si Senate Committee on Agriculture And Food Chairperson Senator Cynthia Villar na layong imbestigahan ang implementasyon ng Rice Tariffication Law.

Partikular ang tungkol sa Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund na nagsisilbing tulong sa mga magsasaka.

Ayon kay senator Villar, naglabas ang Department Of Budget And Management (DBM)  ng  P5 B noong December 2018 na tulong sa mga magsasaka.

Ngunit P1 B lamang ang napunta sa sektor ng magsasaka. Kontra umano ang posisyon ng (DBM) at Agriculture Department.

“Hindi raw para sa rice competitiveness enhancement fund yun pero sabi ng DBM (Department of Budget & Management) iyon daw ay para sa rice competitiveness fund so we will know who is telling the truth” ani Senate Committee on Agriculture & Food Chairperson Senator Cynthia Villar.

Ayon sa senador, hindi nila alam kung saan ginastos ng Department of Agriculture  ang nasabing pondo na para sana sa pambili ng mga farm equipment na ibibigay sa karapat dapat na rice farmer association at kooperatiba.

“Kasi this is very important, this is the competitiveness of our farmers kasi we have liberalize the importation of rice so we have to make our farmers as competitive as soon as possible” ani Senate Committee on Agriculture & Food Chairperson Senator Cynthia Villar.

Samantala sa ilalim ng Rice Tarification Law, P10 B taun taon ang ilalaan para sa Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund.
