New York Police Officers were out in full force on Monday and heightened security measures were visible, as the city prepared to host the United Nations general assembly.
The area around the United Nations where world leaders will gather on Tuesday was closed to cars, and everyone entering the area needed to show identification as they wove through metal barricades.
U.S. President Donald Trump arrived in his hometown New York on Sunday and was scheduled to host a meeting on U.N. reform on Monday.
