METRO MANILA – Mahigit 70,000 na ang bilang ng mga kumpirmadong kaso ng Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19) sa Mainland China Base sa datos ng World Health Organization (WHO).

Umabot na rin sa halos 700 ang kaso ng COVID-19 sa labas ng China.

Nakapagtala na rin ng mahigit 1,700 nasawi dahil sa nasabing virus kabilang na rito ang mga nasawi sa Pilipinas, Japan, France at Taiwan. 10,000 naman ang gumaling at nakalabas na ng ospital ayon sa China National Health Commission.

Samantala nanawagan ng pagtutulungan ang WHO para makabuo ng bakuna laban sa COVID-19 at pondohan ang produksyon nito lalo’t maituturing na global concern ang banta ng Coronavirus Disease dahil kumakalat na rin ito sa labas ng China.

“If we are going to make vaccine ultimately accessible to everyone, we are going to make some big investment in how to scale up production of these vaccines and how to make sure they are available to everybody.” ani WHO Emergencies Programme Michael Ryan.

“The world spends billions of dollars preparing for a terrorist attack but relatively little preparing for the attack of a virus, which could be far more deadly and far more damaging economically, politically and socially. This is frankly difficult to understand and dangerously short-sighted.” ani WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
