METRO MANILA – Naniniwala si Commissioner-in-Charge for Overseas Voting Maria Rowena Guanzon na makatitipid ang Commission on Elections (Comelec) kung magkaroon ng internet voting sa abroad at maging sa bansa.
Hindi na aniya kailangan gumastos sa courier services o transportasyon ng mga election paraphernalia at pag-imprenta ng mga balota tuwing eleksyon.
Pero, may rekomendasyon si Guanzon na ilang bagay na dapat ikonsidera bago ito ipatupad.
“There are three things that are major considerations for me as a decision maker one is security, two is access of voters, three is the cost and if we are satisfied in OFW we can recommend to the Comelec en Banc and of course congress for 2025 if the next administration will certify it as urgent then certainly congress can add to the Comelec budget for this purpose.” ani Comelec Comm. Ma. Rowena Guanzon.
Dagdag pa ni Guanzon, irerekomenda nila ito sa kongreso para makapagpasa ng batas hinggil dito.
Ito ay lalo na kung tagumpay ang isasagawa nilang mga internet voting test run sa mga susunod na araw.
“If these test runs efficient, effective and host efficient, I will recommend to the Commission en Banc that we request congress of course the house and the senate to consider passing a law to use mobile app voting in the future. Well, if we’re looking at 2025 that’s quite possible cause that’s another three years from now.” ani Comelec Comm. Ma. Rowena Guanzon.
Kanina ay inilunsad ng Comelec ang internet voting na pinangunahan ng Office for Overseas Voting sa pamamagitan ng service provider na Voatz, isang US-based private mobile election voting application.
Bahagi ito ng gagawing internet voting test run na magsisimula sa Sabado, September 11 ng alas-8 ng umaga at matatapos sa Lunes, September 13 ng kaparehong oras.
Pagkatapos nito ay magkakaroon din kaagad ng canvassing ng mga boto.
Ayon sa Comelec, nasa 671 ang nagpatala na participants sa internet voting dry run na karamihan ay overseas Filipino workers.
Ayon kay Commissioner Guanzon, nasa 1 taon na nilang tinatrabaho ang proyektong ito.
Target na matulungan dito ng Comelec ang mga OFW na gustong makaboto na hindi na kailangan pumunta sa mga itatalagang polling center sa abroad.
“The most important thing is that our overseas voters will have easier access to vote especially those who are seafarers and those who cannot leave work in order to vote.” ani Comelec Comm. Ma. Rowena Guanzon.
May 2 pang service providers na indra at smartmatic na inaasahang magkakaroon din ng internet voting test run ngayong buwan.
