METRO MANILA – Hindi sang-ayon ang Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) na luwagan na ang face shield policy sa bansa.

Kaya naman pormal na nirekomenda ng IATF kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte ang mandatory pa ring pagsusuot ng face shields sa mga enclosed at indoor spaces gaya ng mga ospital, paaralan, workplaces, commercial establishments tulad ng mga malls at public markets, public transport, terminals at places of worship.

Ayon kay Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, hangga’t hinihintay pa ang desisyon ng pangulo kaugnay nito, mananatili ang mandatory na paggamit ng face shield.

Kahapon (June 17), ibinunyag nina Senate President Tito Sotto at Senator Joel Villanueva ang sinabi ng pangulong dapat limitado lamang sa ospital ang face shield policy.

Kinumpirma naman ito ng Malacanang.

Para naman sa isang biological science expert, isang political decision ang pagpapairal ng face shield policy dahil batay sa datos, 9% lang ang naidadagdag na proteksyon ng face shield.

Gayunman, nirerekomenda nito ang paggamit ng face shield sa mga lugar na matindi ang COVID-19 situation dahil importante ang nine percent protection na ito para sa mga mamamayan.

But here in metro manila, for example, when you are outside and there is no-one around you, I think it is reasonable to say that lowering the risk by 9% maybe something we’re able to tolerate in order to mitigate some of the burden that we have for the Filipino people.” ani
