Aprubado na sa third and final reading ang 3.02 trillion pesos 2016 National budget sa senado. Sa botong 14-1, labing apat na senador ang pumabor na maipasa ang budget samantalang tanging si Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel lamang ang kumontra sa botohan.

Ang labing apat na senador na pumabor ay sina Senate President Franklin Drilon, Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile, Deputy Minority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, Senators Bam Aquino,Nancy Binay, Pia Cayetano, JV Ejercito, Chiz Escudero,TG Guingona III, Loren Legarda, Sergio Osmeña III, Grace Poe at Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.

Nanatili naman ang sektor ng Edukasyon na nakatanggap ng pinakamalaking bahagi sa budget na nagkakahalaga ng 411.89 billion pesos, kung saab 28% o 90 billion pesos ang iniangat ng pondo mula sa 321 billion pesos budget nito nung 2015.

Pumangalawa naman sa nakakuha ng pinakamalaking pondo ang Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) sa budget nito na P382.42 billion pesos, sinundan ng Department of National Defense (DND) na may 126.64 billion pesos, Department of Health (DOH) 124. 76 billion pesos at Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) na may P124.26 billion.

Sa susunod na linggo, inaasahan na mararatipikahan ang 2016 National budget sa isasagawang bicameral conference committee meeting, upang mapagkasunduan ang hindi magkatugmang halaga ng budget sa bersyon ng kamara at senado.

Kumpyansa naman si Senator Drilon na bago matapos ang taon ay maaaprubahan na ito ni Pangulong Benigno Aquino III.

“We expect to submit the budget to the President by December 14. That’s our target date so that the President will have a week to 10 days to review the budget and see whether he will exercise his line-item veto as he would traditionally,” Pahayag ni Drilon.
