Walong kasunduan ang nilagdaan sa pagitan ng Pilipinas at Singapore matapos ang pakikipagpulong kay Pangulong Dodrigo Duterte ni Singaporean President Halimah Yacob.
Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Duterte ang official welcome ceremony ng pamahalaan kay Singaporean President Halimah Yacob na nasa 5-araw na state visit sa bansa kahapon sa Malacanang.
Pasado alas-tres na kahapon nang dumating ang delegasyon ng Madame President.
Inaasahang sa pamamagitan nito ay mapagtitibay pa ng dalawang bansa ang 50-taong ugnayan.
Walong mga kasunduan ang napagtibay sa pag-uusap nina Pangulong Duterte at President Halimah kabilang na ang pagpapaigting sa ugnayan ng dalawang bansa sa sektor ng seguridad, kalakalan at pamumuhunan.
Ayon kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, “With mutual trust, respect, and abiding amity, I am confident that we will achieve our shared goals and aspirations for our peoples. We will forge ahead and bring our ties to even greater heights of cooperation and friendship between the Philippines and Singapore.
Sinabi naman ni President Halimah Yacob, “There is room to further boost trade and investment flows. We hope on updating the Singapore-Philippines avoidance of double taxation agreement, the expansion of bilateral air transport agreement which will increase connectivity and create more opportunities for collaboration and growth.”
Si President Halimah ang kauna-unahang babaeng Singaporean President, unang Malay Head of State sa loob ng apatnapu’t pitong taon at naging speaker ng parliament.
