METRO MANILA – Nananatili ang banta ng terorismo gaya ng naranasan ng Pilipinas sa kamay ng mga teroristang grupong Abu Sayyaf, Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters at New People’s Army kahit sa gitna ng pandemya.

Kaya ayon kay Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, mahalaga ang mas matibay na pagkakaisa ng mga bansa upang labanan ang banta sa seguridad habang sinusubukang muling patatagin ang ekonomiyang lubhang naapektuhan ng Coronavirus Disease.

Ito ang ipinunto ng Presidente sa kaniyang mensahe sa Aqaba process virtual meeting kahapon (September 2).

“As insecurity rises, the fear of the “other” and the unknown heightens. This brings out man’s darkest tendencies to look inward and go it alone. But the path to recovery requires more openness, deeper solidarity, and stronger cooperation among nations.” ani Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

Pinangungunahan ng bansang Jordan ang virtual meetings sa pamamagitan ni King Abdullah II  na may layong paigtingin ang security at military coordination at cooperation ng mga bansa laban sa terorismo.

Sumentro ang usapan sa mga hamon sa seguridad bunsod ng Coronavirus Disease pandemic.

Kabilang sa mga kalahok sa Aqaba process virtual meeting ang mga world leaders, heads of government at representatives mula sa United Nations at international organizations, senior polical, military, defense officials sa iba’t ibang kontinente at iba pang international partners.

Sa huli, ibinigay ni Pangulong Duterte ang commitment ng Pilipinas sa mas maigting na kooperasyon sa asean, united nations at iba pang international partners tulad ng bansang Jordan upang labanan ang terorismo at COVID-19.

“Let us seize this historic opportunity to build a new order: one that is more secure, just, and humane – where there is no room for the barbarity of terrorists and extremist forces.” ani Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
