Colima volcano continues to spew columns of gas and ashes as well as incandescent material during five recorded explosions between dusk on Tuesday and early on Wednesday.

Ash explosions reaching up to almost five thousand feet were recorded overnight, with ashes falling in nearby communities in Comala and the city of Colima.

The volcano is located in Western Mexico between the states of Colima and Jalisco and is one of the country’s most active.

Mexico has more than three thousand volcanoes, but only 14 are considered active.
