Dense fog enveloped several cities in Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region since Sunday afternoon, seriously disrupting the local traffic.
The local department issued a yellow alert on Sunday as the fog affected over 20 counties and cities in North Xinjiang.
The visibility was less than 200 meters in Urumqi City, which forced the vehicles to move slowly.
31 flights were also cancelled at the Urumchi Diwopu International Airport, stranding 4,500 people.
Despite the harsh weather, the local government was making full efforts to speed up the resettlement of the affected residents.
