Fabrication ng Hybrid Electric Road Trains sa Ilagan City, Isabela, pirmado na

Magsisimula na ang fabrication ng Hybrid Electric Road Train (HERT) sa Ilagan City, Isabela matapos ang matagumpay na virtual signing ng Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) ng Department of Science and Technology(DOST) at Local Government Unit of Ilagan noong Miyerkules (August 11).

Ayon kay DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña, malaking tulong aniya ito sa lungsod ng Ilagan lalo na ngayong panahon ng pandemya na limitado lamang ang mga public transportation vehicle.

“It can be a great complement to the existing public transportation system in Ilagan. Also, during this time of the pandemic, HERT can be used by the front-liners, especially during lockdowns, when there is limited public transport,” ani DOST Secretary de la Peña

Ang HERT ay ginawa ng mga engineer ng DOST’s Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC). Ito ay may habang 40 meters at kayang magsakay ng 120 na pasahero ang kada isang set ng train.

Isa rin sa magandang katangian ng HERT ay maari itong maka-byahe gamit ang Electric batteries.

“It was called ‘hybrid’ because instead of just running on diesel fuel, HERT is also powered by electric batteries, therefore creating lesser carbon emission compared to vehicles that run purely on gasoline or diesel,” ani DOST Secretary de la Peña
