Itinuturing naman ng palasyo na paglabag ito sa United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Nakatakdang bumisita si Pangulong Duterte sa China ngayong buwan. At ayon sa palasyo, mananatili ang posisyon ng pangulong igiit ang arbitral ruling sa pagharap kay Chinese President Xi Jinping kahit nananatiling di ito kinikilala ng china.
