Kinilala ng Council for the Welfare of Children ang mga bayan at munisipalidad sa bansa na nagpakita ng kakaibang pagpapahalaga sa karapatan ng mga bata. Gayundin ang pagpapatupad ng mga child-friendly governance ng mga ito.

Nagkaroon ng 21 finalist para sa outstanding municipalities and cities. Nasungkit ng Davao City ang award para sa highly urbanized city category. Nakuha naman ng Santiago City ng Region II ang award para sa independent component city category at ang Tagaytay City para sa component city category.

Ang mga nagwaging syudad ay tumanggap ng presidential trophy at P500,000 bawat isa.

Naging panauhin sa awarding ceremony sina DSWD Secretary Dinky Soliman, DOJ Secretary Leila de Lima, DILG undersecretary Austere Panadero, at DOH undersecretary Vicente Belizario.

Nagpaabot din ng pagbati si Pangulong Benigno Aquino III na binasa naman ni Sec.Soliman.

“May this event serve to inspire you even further to mobilize your constituents and resources towards people empowerment. May this also be a call to action for other governments to deepen their engagement in programs thay raise our vulnerable and marginalized sectors to the top of our priorities,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
