Heavy smog in China(CCTv)
Beijing has carried out measures to respond to the heavy smog after it activated the first red alert for haze this winter. The air quality began to worsen on Friday.
Beijing Municipal Environmental Monitoring Center says air in the city is severely polluted, with concentrations of 2.5 particulate matter in main urban area.
The traffic departments imposed restrictions based on odd and even numbered license plates of vehicles.
More than 1,200 enterprises in Beijing have also been required to suspend or reduce production.
The haze in Northern Beijing will be slightly dispersed, but the whole city will still be enveloped by heavy haze until Thursday.
