A Quirino Memorial Medical Center (QMMC) nurse cannot help herself from venting out to social media about what she feels as a frontliner in a hospital with confirmed cases of COVID-19 and Patients Under Investigation (PUI).
Gayle Padin Ching and her husband, AJ, both work as nurses in QMMC but in different departments.
As parents of baby twins, they are torn between staying at home and going to work especially these days when contracting the deadly COVID-19 virus is a threat.
But in the end, the call of duty prevailed in them.
Gayle wrote on Facebook:
“Today, i woke up with a heavy heart..
Knowing the situation we have nowadays, as a nurse, i have this fear of going to work and not being able to come back home to my family. Last night i broke down as i heard the news that our workplace would be under “facility quarantine” and it would be effective today (march 19, 2020) eh duty kami ng asawa ko today..parehas pa kaming nurse. Call of duty pero di ko pa kayang malayo ng matagal sa babies ko. 😭
I am apparently torn between staying home with my kids and staying in the hospital to help, and also for them not to acquire anything i might get in the hospital.. But it’s really really hard for me… Napaka sakit at napakabigat sa loob na iwan ko muna ang mga anak ko sa bahay.. Not knowing when we might come back. I kissed and hugged them, with the fear of not knowing when can i kiss and hug them again.. Mahigpit and madaming kiss! Para sulit! 😭
Kaya kayo jan ang swerte swerte niyo.. Napakadali ng pnapagawa sainyo.. MAG STAY LANG KAYO SA BAHAY. Nakakatulong na kayo nun.. Pls. Stay healthy, everyone. Malalampasan din ntn to.. PRAY PO TAYO LAHAT.

In a private message to a UNTV News and Rescue correspondent Gayle shared that she has a choice to take a leave so that she could take care of her twins.
“Actually kung aalis naman ako at tatalikuran ito, wala ring mangyayari. Nakakaawa yung mga maiiwan. Kaunti na lang nga ang mga healthcare workers tapos kung mababawasan pa sila, paano na lang yung mga pasyente? At saka alam ko sa sarili ko na makakatulong ako sa sitwasyon ngayon. ‘Di kakayanin ng konsensya ko kung alam kong may magagawa ako pero ‘di ko ginawa, alam mo iyon? Basta medyo mahirap po i-explain eh. Haha.”
She also expressed bewilderment about the enormosity of this COVID-19 crisis.
“Never ko in-expect sa buhay ko na makakaranas ng ganito. Parang ghost town na lahat ng madadaanan.”
Gayle appeals to the public to stay at home and pray to help ease the situation. — RBL
